ABOUT me
Hello! My name is Colton Byford. I currently live in Boise, Idaho and have been married to my wife Peyton Byford for 9 years. We have two beautiful children together and we love everything photography and videography. My wife is a very talented wedding photographer who has been a photographer for even longer than I have been shooting video! I currently own my own videography business (Byford Films) where I combine high quality video but with a vintage twist. Which is what led me to wanting to create this opportunity for couples on their wedding day. Having a family owned business is something we take a lot pride in. I have had a deep passion for capturing memories that started with capturing moments from my wife and I’s travels when we first started dating. I can truly say I love what I do! I also have such a big heart for helping couples preserve their most precious memories through a curated video that they get to enjoy for the rest of time! The memories will fade, but with video - they don’t have to. OUR WHY
I started shooting these vintage style videos as a way to document my own families every day life. In our home currently, I have a Hi8 Sony Handicam camcorder sitting on a shelf in our kitchen at all times. I pull it out frequently to document all of the wonderful in between moments that I never want to forget daily. I have chosen to use these types of cameras to document our every day lives because there is something about the way these vintage video clips feel when watching the footage back. When watching the clips back it just feels like the good ole days! I am a 90’s baby myself, so all of the footage I remember watching growing up as a child was shot on these Hi8 (VHS tape) style video camcorders. The nostalgic and tangible feeling about the way these cameras capture moments is truly unique. If it were easy enough for my parents to figure out then you and your loved ones will pick it up in a flash! I want you to take a moment and think about yourselves 20 years from now, looking back at these old video clips one day. I want you to think about sitting down and not only watching them by yourselves but watching them with your kids (or family members).
we want you to look back on your wedding or event and feel the memories, and we think one of the best ways to do that is captured by those people who you love the most. I have a passion for capturing videos with vintage cameras because I create videos with them for myself and my family, and I watch them back with my own children. I have also watched similar videos back of my self as a child, and I want to bring that feeling back to these modern filming times. Your memories deserve to be preserved through film and rewatched in a way that allows you to relive all of the feelings you felt on your wedding day or special event again!
